Helisys LOM 1015 Rapid Prototyping Laminated Object Manufacturing CO2 Power Laser Cutting(AUTOMOTIVE)Description: Helisys' rapid prototyping system, LOM 1015. This machine is a X-Y Plotter with a Co2 power laser that cuts layers of paper and glue them together in a sandwich like object of thousands of layers. Final object looks like a piece of wood. This prototyping machine could be used in several manufacturing industries. We picked up this machine at a local auction, turned it on, recover the passwords for operation and tested the machine. All plotter functions worked ok, as well as paper advance and rewind, when the program directed the laser to start cutting, and error would appear, saying that could not communicate with the laser board. We opened then the control access panels on the back, and fired the laser manually, pressing the relay switch by hand (dangerous) and the laser worked flawlessly (see last pictures, the paper got on fire!). Even if you only want the Co2 laser, this would be a good deal, if you manage to fix the controller board for the laser, it would be a better deal for you.
